“With all the waste going on in government, the dollar losing its purchasing power, the collapse of the housing bubble, the economy is really struggling. We Members of Congress should not be padding our pocketbooks when our constituents are tightening their belts,” stated Congressman Paul.
The bill was introduced yesterday and so far Congressman Paul is the only cosponsor. Congressman Paul famously returns a portion of his congressional office budget to the Treasury. He recently estimated he would be able to return $75,000 from last year’s office budget. He also refuses to participate in the lucrative pension program that Congress has awarded itself.

Ron Paul Unveils a REAL Economic Stimulus Plan

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA –Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has unveiled a comprehensive economic revitalization package. The four-pronged plan is designed to stem the current economic slide and address the unsound governmental policies that are harming Americans’ pocketbooks.
“Real economic reform must address the underlying reasons for the current economic malaise,” said Ron Paul. “This plan is more than just a band-aid for our economy; it fundamentally reforms four areas where government policies are damaging our national economy. When enacted, my plan will provide both short-term stimulus, and lay the groundwork for long-term prosperity.”

The four areas that the plan covers are:
1. Tax Reform: Reduce the tax burden and eliminate taxes that punish investment and savings, including job-killing corporate taxes.
2. Spending Reform: Eliminate wasteful spending. Reduce overseas commitments. Freeze all non-defense, non-entitlement spending at current levels.
3. Monetary Policy Reform: Expand openness with the Federal Reserve and require the Fed to televise its meetings. Return value to our money.
4. Regulatory Reform: Repeal Sarbanes/Oxley regulations that push companies to seek capital outside of US markets. Stop restricting community banks from fostering local economic growth.
Congressman Paul has written or co-sponsored numerous bills to enact the policies in his plan. In Congress, he has been a champion of lower taxes and limited government.

As reported in Ballot Access News, "It appears that Ron Paul supporters outnumbered the supporters of any of his opponents. But since this was predicted, the supporters of Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, and Mitt Romney, cooperated to set up a "fusion" slate of unpledged candidates for Delegate. The "fusion" slate, labeled the "Pro-Life/Pro-Family" slate, beat the Ron Paul slate in each of the 7 U.S. House districts. Formally, the "fusion" slate billed itself as an "uncommitted" slate, and no one really knows how many supporters of each presidential candidate are on the fusion slate, except the campaigns themselves."
According to the Louisiana GOP, preliminary results indicate that an "uncommitted 'Pro-Life/Pro-Family' slate appears to have won a majority of delegates in all seven congressional districts."
This unprecedented uniting of GOP candidates to stop Ron Paul clearly shows that the GOP agenda is apparently to stop Ron Paul at all costs.

They are not telling you that the Federal Reserve's 75 basis point cut in the interest rate is going to inflate the money supply, causing still more price inflation. Your savings will be worth less. Your pay check will buy less. And the big financial interests that have the first access to this new money will be able to buy things cheap, before the price increases hit.
The media won't tell you that this Fed inflation is theft, transferring wealth from the poor and middle class to those who are first in line to receive the Fed's funny money. Instead of telling you the truth, the media continues to blame our current economic problems on rising oil prices. But those of you who are old enough to remember the 1970s should know better . . .
The media told us the same lies in the 1970s. They told us that high oil prices were causing all other prices to rise. They told us we needed the Fed to create more and more money to boost the economy. But they created more and more new money and the boost never came. All we got were higher and higher prices, and slower and slower economic growth. They called it "stagflation" -- inflation combined with a stagnant economy.
According to the pet theories of the Establishment's so-called experts, stagflation was supposed to be impossible. But it was all too real. Now we are seeing this old pattern repeated. We have price inflation. We have companies in trouble. We have all the signs of a coming stagflation -- recession and rising prices at the same time. And once again the Establishment is giving us the same old song and dance . . .
We need the Fed to create more money, they tell us. High oil prices are the problem, they claim. And the verdict on these assertions will be the same as it was in the 1970s. The stagflation of the 1970s was only ended when the new Federal Reserve Chairman, Paul Volker, stopped creating new money out of thin air. Those of you who were alive then will remember . . .
The adjustment was painful. Unemployment rose to 11% for a brief period as the economy corrected itself and purged all the bad investments that had been made during the inflationary 70s. But then the economy took off again, giving us nearly 20 years of growth, and rising standards of living.
Don't drink the Establishment's poison kool-aid. The only way to reduce the pain of the coming economic correction is to stop pouring fuel on the fire. The Fed must stop creating new money. The government should also cut spending and stop borrowing, to make more real capital (not funny money) available to create jobs.
This is the only path back to economic health. It worked before, it can work now, and the sooner we start the better it will go.
Help us change the environment, both in public, and in Congress. Share this message with the others. Then tell Congress that you know the truth. Send Congress a message asking them to pass Ron Paul's "Honest Money Act," which will create conditions that will make it harder for the Fed to inflate the money supply.

Economic Stimulus? - please spare us
There is much talk recently about our economic woes.
Many of the politicians are talking about how the country needs a stimulus.
They want to give away money so that people will spend it and that will make everything better somehow.
I fail to see how that fixes anything. In fact, it will make matters worse because the money they either borrow or print to "stimulate" the economy will result in either the further debasing of the dollar and/or inflation.
If they REALLY want to stimulate the economy here is a list of things I think would help:
- Balance the budget
- Stop printing money
- End the war
- Reduce the size of government
- Cut taxes (individual and corporate)
- Eliminate the Death tax
- Eliminate the AMT (Alternate Minimum Tax)

Truth is not always mainstream
Maybe that's why a lot of those otherwise nice, well meaning R's get their knickers in a knot when Dr. Paul says something the mainstream media and other candidates don't agree with. So rather than questioning the accuracy, they attack the messenger. Rather than dealing in facts, they turn to name calling and character assassination.

HE has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good.
HE has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing Importance, unless suspended in their Operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
HE has refused to pass other Laws for the Accommodation of large Districts of People, unless those People would relinquish the Right of Representation in the Legislature, a Right inestimable to them, and formidable to Tyranny only.
HE has called together Legislative Bodies at Places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the Depository of their public Records, for the sole Purpose of fatiguing them into Compliance with his Measures.

IN every Stage of these Oppressions we have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble Terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated Injury. A Prince, whose Character is thus marked by every Act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Ruler of a free People.
NOR have we been wanting in Attentions to our British Brethren. We have warned them, from Time to Time, of Attempts by their Legislature to extend an unwarrantable Jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the Circumstances of our Emigration and Settlement here. We have appealed to their native Justice and Magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the Ties of our common Kindred to disavow these Usurpations, which would inevitably interrupt our Connexions and Correspondence. They too have been deaf to the Voice of Justice and of Consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the Necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the Rest of Mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.
